Hans Jaldhara Project Funded by The Hans Foundation

Drinking water scheme has been established by the organization with the support of The Hans Foundation in October 2016 at Garur and Kapkot at Bageshwar in the identified villages in cooperation with the community. The program is running with an agreement with the users to invest 10% of the expense and 90% will be provided from the Hans Foundation.

 

Each family was provided with their private water connection for them to be able to get ample amount of water for their use.

 

Following are the activities conducted by the organization under the program in the year 2017-18

  • General awareness meetings
  • Wall paintings, slogan writing, etc
  • Training on water storage and management
  • Training on documentation and record keeping
  • Training of procurement committee on their roles and responsibilities
  • Training of technique experts within the community on their responsibilities and record keeping
  • Training women on income generating activities on products to make them self dependant

The rural community was given information through the above mentioned activities/training by the organization under the program. This ensured that proper management of the drinking water scheme can be done and water will be available in the future.

products was provided to make them self dependant and to have an improved financial status under the Women Skill Development activity within the program.


The program in being implemented in the identified villages by the users by creating a plan and implementing it skillfully. The user’s committee and the hygiene subcommittee established under the program evaluate and monitor it with the support of the organization from time to time.

Jal Jeevan Mission Program

The concept of Jal Jeevan Mission Program is to provide each house in the rural area their own water connection for them to make drinking water easily available for them by the year 2024. The program is being implemented with support of the Government of India. The program also aims to stabilize all drinking water sources for which the organization is working for the management of underground water, water conservation and rain water harvesting.
Objectives of the program

  • To improve the quality of life in the rural community by providing each family a regular source of water for long term basis.
  •  To provide water connection at schools, Aganwadi centers, Panchayat Bhavan, Health centers and community centers.
  •  To develop ownership towards the program through cash, kind or volunteering for the program from the community.

The organization is implementing Jal Jeevan Mission Program with the support of Uttrakhand Jal Nigam, Jal Sansthan and District Project Management Unit in Bageshwar and Pithoragarh. The activities under the project are being done successfully. A village drinking water and sanitation subcommittee has been formed in the identified gram panchayats and their revenue villages.
